Indonesia’s labor market: does a degree still matter?

Graduating in 2020, I wanted to see what employers were actually asking for — so I collected the job postings instead of guessing.

The question

Job postings are a direct statement of what employers want. Taken together they describe the market: which requirements come up most, which skills are worth having, and roughly what the work pays.

What I did

Wrote a scraper to collect job postings from Indeed and LinkedIn, then cleaned and explored them — pulling out stated requirements and skills, and visualising the most frequent terms.

What it showed

A general picture of the Indonesian job market at the time: the requirements most often listed, the kinds of skills that were good to have, and the market price of the wage on offer.

Data and tools

Data: Job postings from Indeed and LinkedIn.
Tools: Pandas, wordcloud, Selenium.
